</did><scopecontent><p><emph render="bold">DESCRIPTION:  </emph> This series documents deaths and burials recorded in Salt Lake City.  Entries may include the ward, name of the deceased, to whom the deceased is related, birth date and location, death date, cause of death, the name of the medical attendant, and location of burial including block and lot numbers.  Most persons recorded in the book were buried in the Salt Lake City Cemetery, but entries also include persons buried "at home," at the Mount Olivet Cemetery, the Jewish and Catholic cemeteries, as well as those transferred out of state.
</p></scopecontent><arrangement><p><emph render="bold">ARRANGEMENT: </emph>The entries are roughly chronological.
</p></arrangement><odd type="researchnote"><p><emph render="bold">RESEARCH NOTE:  </emph>Since the register entries are roughly chronological, entries may be searched by approximate death date, if known.
</p></odd><add><relatedmaterial><p><emph render="bold">RELATED RECORDS: </emph><extref href="http://historyresearch.utah.gov/inventories/6722.html">Series 6722</extref>, INTERMENT RECORDS, includes many of the same records for those persons buried in the Salt Lake City Cemetery.  <extref href="http://historyresearch.utah.gov/inventories/81448.html">Series 81448</extref>, DEATH CERTIFICATES, are the official death certificates maintained by the Utah State Division of Vital Records for the years after 1904.  
</p></relatedmaterial></add><admininfo><custodhist><p><emph render="bold">CUSTODY HISTORY: </emph>The first volume, 1848-1866, was given to the LDS Family History Library in February 1966 and transferred to the State Archives in February 1999.
