Series 85147

PARK CITY (UTAH) [770]

BIRTH REGISTERS, 1892-1897
1 microfilm reel

DESCRIPTION: These records contain birth registers for the years 1892 to 1897. Each entry has an assigned number, name, date of birth; father' s name, age, occupation, and birthplace; mother' s name, age, and birthplace; name of the attending physician, and the date reported.

Prior to 1898, a few cities and towns recorded births independently of county requirements. Beginning in 1898, physicians and midwives were required to keep record of each birth at which they assisted professionally. They then reported quarterly to the county clerk or in the case of incorporated cities, to the local board of health and they would in turn report to the county clerk.

ARRANGEMENT: These records are loosely chronological by month.

RELATED RECORDS:Series 81443 contains birth certificates filed with the Bureau of Vital Records, beginning in 1904. However, these records are not public until 100 years after the date of birth. The researcher should contact the agency.

PROCESSING NOTE: This series was archivally processed by M. Call in October 1998.
