DESCRIPTION: These cards serve as a subject index to the Attorney General's opinions. They contain the date of the opinion, a description of the subject, the requesting agency and/or person, and the opinion number for those opinions filed between 1945 and 1964.

ARRANGEMENT: Chronological by multiple-year batch, thereunder alphabetical by first letter of subject keyword or name of agency.

RESEARCH NOTE: Each letter of the alphabet is divided into two sections; a chronological listing of miscellaneous opinions, and groupings of opinions which fall under a single subject heading or agency name. For example, an opinion on an audit process might fall under the first section of the "A's" in chronological order, or might appear with other opinions related to "Audits" in the second section. The cards with subject headings are arranged alphabetically.

RELATED RECORDS: Prior to 1945, the opinions indexed in this series appear in the ANNUAL REPORTS of the Attorney General's Office, series 63, which are also available in series 240, PUBLIC DOCUMENTS SERIAL SET. Opinions are not listed in the table of contents, but are located at the end of each report. Series 7191, OPINIONS (FORMAL) contains the opinions filed after January 1, 1945.
