Series 4607

BINGHAM CANYON (UTAH) [78]

POLICE ARREST REGISTER, 1908-1917, 1932-1938
1 reel 35mm microfilm

DESCRIPTION: This series consists of microfilm of one volume of police arrest information. It was created in order to maintain a history of arrests in the Town of Bingham Canyon. The pages in this volume have spaces for the date of arrest, name of prisoner, offence alleged, name of arresting officer, and remarks. The remarks column usually contains information on the disposition of the case (e.g., release, amounts of fines imposed, etc.) In addition to the arrest information, this volume contains a list of stolen cars on page 296 and a list of thefts in 1938 on page 219.

ARRANGEMENT: This series is arranged by chronologically by date of arrest.

RESEARCH NOTE: Some additional entries are made on pages 294, 298, and 300 of the volume. These entries are out of order.

RELATED RECORDS: This series is closely related to Bingham Canyon JUSTICE OF THE PEACE CRIMINAL DOCKETS, series 4589; JUSTICE OF THE PEACE CRIMINAL MINUTE BOOKS, series 17460; and, JUSTICE OF THE PEACE CASH BOOKS, series 17459. Each of these series contains information on court proceedings in the Bingham Canyon Justice Court. These series, when available for a given time period, can provide additional information about the disposition of the case, provided it was tried in the J.P. court.

PROCESSING NOTE: This series was processed by Paul G. C. Smith in 1996. The series was filmed in May 1996, and the originals were destroyed. The series is primarily valuable for its informational content. The condition of the volume (pages separated from spine, dirty pages, etc.) argues convincingly against retaining the original material, as preservation costs would be high.

GAPS IN THE SERIES: Pages 100-141 are missing. This may account for the jump from 1917 to 1932.
