DESCRIPTION: The Washington County recorder created a name index to individuals whose names appear in abstract record books. This index consists of a list of the names followed by a running list of the book and page numbers where entries were made in the abstracts involving that individual.

ARRANGEMENT: Entries are grouped alphabetically according to the first letter of surname. The names column is followed by a grid which identifies the first vowel after the beginning letter to enable easier searching of a long list.

RESEARCH NOTE: In addition to book and page references this index includes additional letters and numbers of obscure meaning.

RELATED RECORDS: This index provides surname reference to entries in ABSTRACTS (SECTIONAL LAND), series 16432; ABSTRACTS (SAINT GEORGE), series 23554; and ABSTRACTS (TOWNS), series 23555.
