PARAGONAH (UTAH) [758]

BURIAL PERMITS, 1909-1962.
1 microfilm reel

A separate agency history is available.

DESCRIPTION: The Paragonah sexton created burial permits granting permission for persons to be buried in the Paragonah Cemetery. In addition to the name of the person to be buried, each permit also indicates his or her age, date and place of death, place of birth, and sometimes the cause of death. In each case the sexton's signature verifies that the individual was buried in the Paragonah Cemetery. At the end of this book the sexton created a list of all individuals who own cemetery lots. The list identifies the owner's name, the lot number, and date payment was made.

ARRANGEMENT: Paragonah burial permits are arranged chronologically by date of permit.

RELATED RECORDS: CEMETERY DEEDS, series 23647, contain deeds which indicate ownership of cemetery plots. INTERMENT REGISTER, series 23646, contains a map of the city cemetery, as well as maps for each plot. Each plot map identifies individuals buried in that plot and relevant information about them.

PROCESSING NOTE: Paragonah burial permits were microfilmed at Southern Utah University under the direction of Utah State Archives in June 2001 and processed by Rosemary Cundiff in August 2001.

PREFERRED CITATION: Cite the Utah State Archives and Records Service, the creating agency name, the series title, and the series number.
