ENOCH (UTAH) [348]

CODIFIED ORDINANCES , 1975-ongoing

A separate agency history is available.

DESCRIPTION: In 1975 the city of Enoch published the Code of Revised Ordinances of Enoch, which is a complete simplified code of all general or permanent city ordinances (See Utah Code, 1991, 10-3-707). Codified ordinances include general provisions for the municipal government; define the town boundaries, define public offenses, and contain statutes relating to elections, taxation, and courts. Ordinances define the responsibilities of town officers. They provide regulations for business, construction, health, and safety. Ordinances govern public utilities, transportation, zoning, planning, and police protection.

ARRANGEMENT: Enoch ordinances are arranged numerically by code and title.

RESEARCH NOTE: A series of unordered pages appears at the end of the book. These appear to be either duplicates of certain pages in the book or originals of pages to which revisions or updates have been made.

RELATED RECORDS: Ordinances are passed by the town board or city council. The minutes of that body are found in CITY COUNCIL MINUTES, series 23605. Zoning ordinances are passed by the planning and zoning commission. PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION MINUTES, series 23610, contain copies of ordinances drafted by the commission. Enoch codified ordinances make repeated reference to UTAH CODE, series 83238.

FINDING AIDS: Enoch ordinances contain a table of contents at the beginning of the book and an alphabetical index at the end.

PROCESSING NOTE: Enoch ordinances were microfilmed at Southern Utah University under the direction of Utah State Archives in July 2001 and processed by Rosemary Cundiff in September 2001.

PREFERRED CITATION: Cite the Utah State Archives and Records Service, the creating agency name, the series title, and the series number.
