DESCRIPTION: This series contains correspondence concerning the Colorado River and the distribution of its water. Utah was one of the four members of the upper basin states. Because of the lower basin reclamation projects, such as the Hoover Dam, the upper basin states were interested in devising their own reclamation plans to assure their share of water as designated in the Colorado River Compact of 1922. This series exhibits the actions taken by state government to safeguard their share of the water. The series contains legislative bills, resolutions, general correspondence, minutes and reports.
ARRANGEMENT: This series is arranged chronologically by year thereunder alphabetically by subject when applicable.
Various years within this series are broken down further by subject within the year. Retakes of missed (including an oversized map) or blurred items appear at the beginning of the appropriate reel.
RELATED RECORDS: Series 186, CORRESPONDENCE, contains correspondence relating to the Colorado River.
PROCESSING NOTE: The scheduling of this series is by the Utah State Agency General Retention Schedule. These records were microfilmed to preserve the original documents because of their historical value. The records in this series were pulled from Governor Blood's general correspondence, Series 186. These records were pulled because of their completeness in content and because the importance of the topic. This series was processed by Wendy Checketts, April 2000. The series was filmed with the inventory updated in 2002/2003.
