DESCRIPTION: These alphabetical indexes were created by the Court to record the names of the parties involved in civil, criminal and probate actions and provide assigned case numbers, facilitating clerical management of and access to the case files. The first index contains plaintiff name, defendant name, case file number, and date of filing. The second index contains defendant name, plaintiff name, case file number and date of filing.

ARRANGEMENT: These indexes are arranged alphabetically by first letter of plaintiff or defendant surname.

RELATED RECORDS: Series 22682, CASE FILES, 1896?[ongoing], contains the entire case file listed in these indexes. Series 18270, REGISTERS OF ACTIONS, 1896?1966, contains a listing of actions taken in each case.

PROCESSING NOTE: Court indexes were first scheduled in 1968 as permanent records. This series was archivally processed by David Clark in May 2000.
