DESCRIPTION: Mining records, which constitute a legal record, are kept by the county recorder for the purpose of monitoring and registering mining claims and operations. Proofs of labor record the work performed at each mine annually with information pertaining to the name of the mining claim, number of days and time period worked on the claim, mining district, value of work, and amount and type of materials removed.
ARRANGEMENT: Chronological by date filed.
RESEARCH NOTE: This series contains records prior to the creation of Duchesne County in 1915. Records were copied from the Wasatch County Recorder for mining claims that are now located in Duchesne County.
RELATED RECORDS: Series 18101, MINING NOTICES OF LOCATION, 1882present, contains notices of location for the same mining claims. Series 84251, MINING DEEDS, 18901950, contains deeds for the same mining claims.
PROCESSING NOTE: Mining records were first scheduled as permanent records in 1971. The mining records were filmed by the Duchesne County Recorder in 1986. The entire series was archivally processed by David Clark in November 1999.
