DESCRIPTION: This series is a compilation of various events that took place during and before Governor Bamberger's term. It contains records of miscellaneous correspondence, appointments, Indian War Veterans fund, and land settlement records. It also consists of microfilmed scrapbooks of newspaper clippings of Bamberger's political happenings, prohibition, World War I, agriculture, coal shortage, railroads, and other events during his term. This series gives a taste of the important political issues facing Governor Bamberger.

RELATED RECORDS:Series 185, WATER RIGHTS AND IRRIGATION RECORDS contain additional information on obtaining irrigable land for soldiers. INDIAN WAR VETERANS FUND, series 323 contains papers relating to the distribution of pension funds to Indian War Veterans or their widows. COAL SHORTAGE INVESTIGATION RECORDS, series 21962, contain more information on the coal shortage noted in the scrapbooks.
PROCESSING NOTE: This series is scheduled following the Utah State Agency General Retention Schedule (1997, sched. 1, item 9). The series was microfilmed because of its intrinsic value and to protect the original papers. (This series is some of Governor Simon Bamberger's records the first democratic and non-Mormon Governor of Utah). Governor's records tend to be used frequently. This series was processed by Wendy Checketts in 1999. Some records have been removed from this series and made into their own series because of their completeness of record.
Filming was completed in 2002 and the container list updated.
