Series 17611

DESCRIPTION: These indices provide access to Salt Lake County probate records, ie. those cases involving the estates of deceased persons, the guardianship of minors and the incompetent, adoptions, and name changes. The indices include year, individual's name, probate case number (see Series 1621, PROBATE CASE FILES), and the estate register book number and page numbers (see Series 3927, ESTATE REGISTERS).

ARRANGEMENT: Chronological by filming batch, thereunder alphabetical by initial letters of surname, thereunder chronological by year.

RELATED RECORDS: Series 3927, ESTATE REGISTERS, records dates of individual actions and is directly indexed by this series. Series 3372, The PROBATE RECORD BOOKS, offer extensive and detailed information on the cases and actions; although not directly indexed by this series, particular cases in the record books can be accessed via entries in the REGISTERS. Series 1621, PROBATE CASE FILES, for Salt Lake County should be consulted for further details on these cases, and is directly indexed by this series. Series 3938, MINUTE BOOKS, give a brief description of the probate cases and activities in a particular case can be traced through the dates given in the REGISTERS.

PROCESSING NOTE: The indices were filmed by the Archives in 1979. If a single volume is split between two reels of film, the end of one reel and the beginning of the next will slightly overlap; the duplication is not noted in the container list. The series was archivally processed by David Clark in March 1998.
