DESCRIPTION: This series functions as an index to access the criminal case files and registers of actions. Individual entries record the name of defendants involved in criminal actions and provide the following information: name of the defendant, assigned case number, page number for the corresponding criminal register, and the date of filing with the Court Clerk.

ARRANGEMENT: Alphabetical by defendants' surname.

RELATED RECORDS: Series #1471, CRIMINAL CASE FILES, contain the case files indexed by this series. Series #12376, CRIMINAL CASE FILES (SEALED AND EXPUNGED), contain those cases sealed and expunged and indexed by this series. Series #3253, CRIMINAL REGISTERS OF ACTIONS, are indexed by this series.

CUSTODY HISTORY: This series was maintained for the court by the Salt Lake County Clerk and transfer to the Utah State Archives began February 23, 1968.

PROCESSING NOTE: This series was microfilmed and destroyed by the Utah State Archives October 1, 1976 and processed by Kenneth R. Williams in May of 1994.
