Series 10398

STATE PRISON [790]

INMATE PHOTOGRAPHS, 1940-1954
1.05 cu. ft.
Storage is off site.

DESCRIPTION: This series consists of inmate photographs. Most of the inmates are from the Utah State Prison with a few from the Salt Lake Sheriff's Office, the Box Elder Sheriff's Office and the Ogden City Police. The photographs are separated by crime; therefore, this possibly is a study of some sort. Most photographs state the type of crime, the date of incarceration, date of release, physical appearance of prisoner, and place and date of birth.

ARRANGEMENT: The photos are arranged alphabetically by crime thereunder alphabetically by prisoner's last name.

RELATED RECORDS: Series 10396, Inmate identification photographs also contain photographs of Utah State Prison inmates. Series 80388, Prison commitment registers, records personal information about the inmate when first admitted to the prison.

PROCESSING NOTE: At one time this series was merged with series 10396. When processing both series, it was decided they should be two separate series because of original order of each series: The arrangement and time frames are distinctly different. Wendy Checketts processed this series in October 2001.

PREFERRED CITATION: Cite the Utah State Archives and Records Service, the creating agency name, the series title, and the series number.
