Series 10396

DESCRIPTION: This series contains identification photographs of state prison inmates. The inmates are usually identified by prison number but in some cases where a number is not available, by name. The series also contains a box of unknown photographs. These photographs do not have a number or name. The dates for photographs in boxes 1-5 are estimated dates, ca. 1890-1925. The photographs do not give any information besides a prison number. The photographs in boxes 5-8 range from 1950-1968. The date is listed on the photograph.

ARRANGEMENT: This series is arranged numerically by prison number. When a number is not available alphabetically by inmate's name.

RELATED RECORDS: Series 10413, Glass plate negatives, contain some negatives for this series. Series 10398, Prison inmate photographs also consist of photographs of prison inmates. These photographs are from a later period and arranged by crime. Series 80388, Prison commitment registers, record personal information about the inmate when first admitted to the prison. Series 11886, Criminal physical description record book, records physical anthropological data on prison inmates.

PROCESSING NOTE: This series was processed by Wendy Checketts October 2001. Series 10398, Inmate identification photographs was merged with this series but the processor removed this series because of original order of each series.
